What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies (such as local storage) work in comparable ways. They can be essential to how a site works, or used to understand how a site is used.
How we use them
- Essential - needed for the site to function and to keep it secure. These do not require consent.
- Privacy-respecting analytics - where enabled, we collect basic, anonymous usage information (such as the page visited, approximate country and device type) to understand how the site is used. This does not set cookies, does not store your IP address and cannot identify you, so it runs by default. You can opt out at any time using the banner or your browser settings.
- Google Analytics - we use Google Analytics with Google Consent Mode. Until you accept, it runs in a cookieless mode that does not store cookies on your device or identify you; it only sets analytics cookies once you accept. Declining stops it entirely. Google processes this information as our analytics provider.
- Microsoft Clarity - once you accept, we use Microsoft Clarity to see heatmaps and session replays showing how pages are used, so we can find and fix usability problems. It sets cookies to recognise a returning session. Nothing loads until you accept, declining stops it entirely, and it is not used on signed-in areas of the site. Microsoft processes this information as our analytics provider.
We do not use cookies for advertising networks or to sell your data.
Managing cookies
You can accept or decline optional analytics using the consent banner, and you can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
